And here's a response I got from a not-so-nice columnist in my section...

The whole point was that we needed to inspire dialogue for the paper. He decided to keep it personal... and I'm not sure why.
He's perfectly nice face-to-face... but he's a little meaner when he doesn't have to look you in the face, or so I've heard.
I'm inclined to believe that, actually. :)
Here's a minor taste of him as an individual...

As an first-generation immigrant, I find this a little improper.
Try not to judge him.
Wow. That is incredibly frustrating.
ReplyDeletePersonally I'm getting really tired of this selfish attitude that most people in this country have. I'm right, YOU'RE WRONG. Seriously, I can't even relate to people who do this. There is no logic behind it, it's just completely close-minded and ignorant.
It's like with that whole Fox News thing right now. It doesn't matter if anyone likes what Fox News has to say, you can't sit there and go, "Well, I don't agree, therefore they aren't a legitimate news source." It's just stupid. Freedom of the Press! And that is exactly where you are coming from with your comic. You're allowed to express you're opinion, and I can't believe someone is sitting there telling you THEIR interpretation of your work regardless of your actual meaning behind it, and believing their view is the only right way. Grr.
Next step is censorship kiddos. We seriously better think about other people's right to speak and express their viewpoint freely otherwise we're close to losing one of our fundamental rights in this country. People are so quick to want to take that away from other people they don't think is right, but who's going to be left to defend you when your right is taken as well?
*Steps off the soapbox*
